In modern societies we are unaware of the real “layers” of our lives more and more everyday. The inner meanings of the life have been indistinct under the pressure of the spectacle that occupies all social fields and space. Tanja Perisic's work indicates the lost layers of our emotional territory that we might experience only through foggy metaphors.

People are losing their authentic and original values as meeting the one-dimensional culture of the globalization process. We do not have entirely anymore the old virtues came from the ancient past when people used to live in peace with nature and all creatures, visible or invisible. In this mechanized chaos, whistles from the mystical past may be listened only in works of art.

Perisic's sculpture is one of the spaces where you can experience a dialogue with your spiritual world, layers of the lost souls hunting on our lands, subconscious elements of culture and civilization. We are chatting everyday and everywhere, but we do not know even the profound meaning of muhabbet. Muhabbet concept is very common for the Eastern culture. This word means a friendly chat, sympathy and love at the same time. Maybe it is called with different words in different countries; however, people know the real value of a deep and sincere conversation in the East. It is something beyond internet chat-rooms and pubs in cities.

One of Perisic's sculptures just shows us the energetic vibration of a conversation which is not perceived anymore in our alienated relationships, and as strong as muhabbet itself. She also mentions the fluidness of energy in dualistic forms like yin-yang.

She composes materials (stone) how are they composed in their natural existence. After the long-term enmity of human against nature, she invites us to make a peace with the nature again. In her micro-cosmos which is not dramatic in a simple way, there is a harmony that is not artificial and over the tiring rhythm of urban life and oriented towards the far climates and territories. Her work may be considered essentially in connection with some Eastern concepts: muhabbet, yin-yang, nirvana, insan-i kamil (the enlightened human in Sufism), etc.; although they are totally modern both artistically and aesthetically. As a last point, we can say that her work is semiotically like a receiver that is just similar to the usage value of towers in the past, which took the power and energy of the sun and gave to the earth. Tanja Perisic's relocates us into the right place in the constellation of universe.
